Profile

With more than 15 years of experience in Europe, Africa and Asia, Claudio consulted and provided mental health services in diverse settings, including vocational schools, hospitals, prisons, and the corporates. Claudio has also worked in the humanitarian sector for 10 years and has extensive experience in emergency settings such as refugee camps, post-catastrophe displaced camps, and war zones. Claudio adopts a holistic person-centred approach and is experienced working with adolescents, adults, and couples. He believes in the phenomenology principle that each individual experience is unique: “People are not supposed to be classified or normalised: diagnosis is only a useful working tool, when requested by the client”.

Claudio completed his Master’s Degree in Clinical and Cognitive Psychology (cum laude) in University of Padova, Italy. Trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), hypnotherapy and sexology, Claudio utilises an integrative approach with elements of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Gestalt psychology, psychodynamics theories, psychology of forgiveness, mindfulness and positive psychology to work with clients to reach their therapeutic goals. He is a licensed psychologist with the Italian Ministry of Education and Research. Having lived in many parts of the world and worked with people from diverse cultures, he is skilful at adapting psychological techniques in a culturally appropriate manner.

As a survivor of a kidnapping as a humanitarian worker, he  learnt how a life-threatening experience can be transformational. Through this experience, he learnt how forgiveness and compassion can heal and strengthen. Working in the most desperate situations of conflict and natural disasters, Claudio has witnessed how people and the community can be resilient and give their best during challenging times.

Being the husband of a loving mother and the father of two joyful children. Claudio enjoys music and literature. Together with his children, they compose amusing songs and improvise original stories. Claudio enjoys exercise and has a passion for languages and their theories. He is fluent in English, Italian and French and conversant in Spanish.
